This time, our destination was an Orphanage which is situated in Namorambe area. It is called Cinta Kasih Anak Bangsa Orphanage. This visit was originally suggested by our Prime Teacher, Mr. Sokfin Chandra. Everyone was so enthusiastic with this idea. This was the first social visit by OIC since OIC was established.
This orphanage was organized by some good people and the orphans were mostly children from the isolated area of Nias. They were brought to the orphanage in hope they would get better education in Medan. Since they just came to Medan and they had lived in isolation for a long time, therefore, their Indonesian was not really fluent yet.
They were really welcoming. Our arrival was greeted with gorgeous songs performed by the orphans, along with melodious instrument by the people from the orphanage. Actually, we came at the wrong time since the kids had just finished their lunch and headed for napping. Therefore, some of them had these funny and cute sleepy faces. Be considerate, we did not stay long although they were so excited and enthusiastic with our visit. Then, two representatives from our group gave a little speech to encourage and motivate the kids to reach and manifest their dreams, and never give up although they fall because of the small pebbles.
It was time to say goodbye, the sky was cloudy (yeah, very conducive), yet we still went to our friend’s place which was located at the same complex as the orphanage. So we rested for a while before coming home to our own place. Yet, clearly I remember, some of us insisted to hang out since it’s holiday.
